Ginger Wildheart speaks about Devin...
Metal Hammer (UK), May 1999

"I am only interested in people who like it, someone who puts every fiver of their person into the music. Everything else comes a poor second, there's a bunch of people who will always be making music, no matter how they fit in the scheme of the Top 20. It's not for money, not for placings in the chart, it's because they can't do anything else and they don't care about anything else."
"It's essential to have people of a similar disposition around you. I know a few artists, people like Devin Townsend and Willie [Dowling - ex-Honeycrack] and if you talk to people like that you don't feel so alone. It's not enough to just talk to someone, it's talking to someone who understands."

"I can't thing of an artist who impresses me as much as Devin. When I heard the B-sides to 'Christeen' I was sitting there completely open-mouthed, and it's nice as he says the same things about me. We have the same level of respect for each other. It's not some bonzo respect, it's a bit deeper than that. It's about getting your feelings out in your music, like a personal exorcism. Unless someone is feeling music with the same vibrancy, then you don't really understand why you get so pissed off and frustrated at the state of music at the moment, and Devin is the last of a dying breed.
People who live for the music and feel it deeper than your average hit-maker."
